Events and Programs

Various workshops and presentations are available for your upcoming event or technology festival. Ornithopter flying demonstrations consistently amaze audiences. I've also developed some multi-media presentations ranging from fun family programs to technical design aspects of ornithopters. I also lead workshops where the participants build their own rubber-powered ornithopters to take home. Venues have included local libraries, organizations, and schools, as well as some leading technical institutes in the United States and Asia.

Ornithopter Flying Demonstration
at Indian Institute of Technology

Available for your Tech Fest or Event
Here are some ornithopters I use for demonstration flying.

Scale Model. This is a 1/10 scale model of a manned ornithopter. It appeared on Discovery Science Channel. It is flown outdoors, or in a fieldhouse, and it has lights for night flying. The wingspan is 36 inches.

Mayfly. This is a light-weight, micro-sized ornithopter, similar to the micro air vehicles developed at some universities. It can be flown in a classroom-sized area. It has a 16 inch wingspan.
Phoenix. It's good to have at least one example of a rubber-band-powered, free-flight ornithopter, because they can be easily built by students. Phoenix has a 16 inch wingspan. Several other models are available for demonstration.
Other Programs

Photos & Flight Show. Aimed at a general audience (families with children), this multimedia presentation is a fascinating introduction to ornithopters and bird flight. PowerPoint accompanied by an indoor flying demonstration.

Technical Presentation. Technical presentations reveal important principles of ornithopter design and construction, within the relevant historical context. I can adjust the focus to emphasize micro air vehicles, birdlike ornithopters, or manned ornithopters. Ideal for universities.

Building Ornithopters Workshop. Participants build their own rubber-powered, free-flight ornithopters to take home. For middle school to adult.
